On a spectacular site, the decision was made to locate the house halfway down a prominent hill. The lower siting lifted the silhouette of a nearby hill which emphasised the dramatic undulating topography of the land, also helping to minimise the impact of the prevailing winds.

The house is a sequence of spatial experiences created inside and between a pavilion, much like a shearing shed, a concrete wine cellar and the excavated earth.

A large, cultivated internal courtyard allows the paddocks to meet the building envelope on all external faces.
